A Deadly Education — Naomi Novik

In A Deadly Education: A Novel (The Scholomance Book 1) author Naomi Novik Weaves a lighthearted tale about a school of magic, with toothy consequences.

I found it entertaining, and deeply healing. Most shaman have experienced rejection for the power they carry. There is a whiff of ozone about shaman, and the main character neatly describes its effects on relationships.

I also love Noviks characterization of how to gain power, the hard but right way. Highly recommended for those feeling othered for solace and delight.

(Also recommend Spinning Silver for its excellent portrayal of archetype, esp for anyone waking up from a Jewish woman perspective).
